Diversity Inc Top 50 Companies 2007

Black Enterprise Best Companies 2007

"I believe that our focus on the integration of the diversity agenda into PBG's core business strategy demonstrates our commitment to valuing a diverse workforce."

Eric J. Foss, President and Chief Executive Officer

PBG was recently ranked number 2 on Diversity Inc.’s Top 50 Companies for Diversity list 2007.

Diversity allows us to better understand the markets we serve and be a more effective selling organization to our increasingly diverse customer base. By valuing and leveraging the contributions of all our employees, we are able to drive better business results.

At PBG, diversity includes all differences that make our employees, consumers and customers unique individuals. These differences include race, gender, experience, work style, culture, religion, age, language, disability, sexual orientation and any other attribute that exists within our workplace and the communities in which we operate.

PBG's Diversity Framework

Our commitment to diversity at PBG includes:
  • Building an inclusive culture means celebrating diversity and conducting Company wide training
  • Attracting, retaining, developing and promoting the best talent to reflect the marketplace
  • Leveraging our diverse product portfolio to capture an increasingly diverse consumer base
  • Partnering with local organizations to support diversity in each of the communities in which we live and work

Diversity Advisory Board
PBG' s Diversity Advisory Board (DAB) serves as an executive body overseeing all diversity efforts at the Company. The role of the DAB is to provide direction on PBG's diversity strategy, monitor progress on our diversity objectives and to ensure that the Company's diversity initiatives are linked with our business objectives.

Building an Inclusive Culture

When we set the objective of building an inclusive culture, our intent was to first recognize the differences that exist amongst our employees. We regard race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation and all other characteristics that make us unique as beneficial components of our overall workforce. We aim to make our workplace an environment where any employee can feel comfortable. At our headquarters, specifically, we have introduced resource groups to address the specific needs of racially/culturally diverse employees, female employees and employees who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. As the Company recognizes such differences, we can celebrate the benefits of diversity and leverage the unique contributions of every member of our workforce.

PBG employees have completed more than 100,000 hours of training since 2002 to learn the importance of respect in the workplace, skills for communicating with people about differences, how to work together more effectively and making diversity matter at every level of our Company. Training modules include:

  • Respecting Others in the Workplace
  • Diversity in the Marketplace
  • Teambuilding Across Differences
  • Diversity Matters

Developing Talent
At PBG, a developmental relationship between senior leaders and high-potential diverse employees is an essential component of our diversity strategy. To this end, we have established a mentoring program to facilitate a dialogue between senior leaders and key diverse talent, during which insights and techniques for achieving success are shared.

Supplier Diversity
Together with PepsiCo, PBG is committed to welcoming diverse business partners and purchasing quality products and services from a diverse supplier base.

It is our policy to promote the utilization of eligible Minority/Women Business Enterprises (M/WBE) vendors in all aspects of the Company's business. To do this, the Company will:
  • Actively and diligently seek out qualified M/WBEs for all possible Company requirements
  • Ensure that M/WBEs fully comprehend the Company's requirements and are able to bid appropriately
  • Make every reasonable effort to help qualified M/WBEs meet Company standards
  • Encourage all our suppliers to use minority and women vendors, distributors and qualified subcontractors as part of their service
