On-campus recruiting is one of the valuable tools that The Pepsi Bottling Group uses to identify future leaders for the Company. Through the PBG Development Program, we hired nearly 500 undergraduate students into our Sales and Operations Divisions since 2000. Additionally, PBG actively seeks human resources professionals who possess masters degrees through on-campus interviewing at some of the top human resources masters programs in the country.
PBG's Sales Development Program and Operations Development Program offer recent college graduates an opportunity to enter our organization through eight-week and twelve-week training programs, respectively. These Development Programs are designed to provide a foundation of knowledge to help launch careers within our organization, as well as build the skills of future managers and leaders. I enjoyed the fact that trainees work in all aspects of the business for some part of the time so that they can acclimate themselves with the

How would you describe the culture at PBG?
The PBG culture is extremely
fast-paced but that’s the environment I enjoy. Every day we are empowered to make decisions. It shows that the
Company and management trust our thought-making process and decision-making skills.
What does it take to be successful at your position?
To get results, you have to be organized, focused and have the ability to handle multiple items at one time. The ability to prioritize is key.

You are immediately thrown into learning all aspects of the business. It gives me the chance to execute and demonstrate my understanding of what needs to happen in the trade to ensure success.
How would you describe the culture at PBG?
PBG is about as fast-paced as you can get. I love the sense of urgency that all PBG employees must feel to be successful. It keeps you on your toes.
What does it take to be successful at your position?
As a TSM, I am always focusing on growing the top line, managing my people and giving them the tools needed to succeed.

A key element was being able to spend a day with one key manager in every part of the business. After the training program, I was well prepared to take on the responsibilities expected of me.

My mentor was helpful in making sure that all key points were addressed, and since that time has become en excellent sounding board and facilitator for continued growth.

The hands-on training period and mentor program were valuable in preparing for the pre-sell position. Interaction with other campus hires afforded the opportunity to share experiences throughout the process.

Why did you join PBG?
I decided to join PBG based on the internship that I experienced the summer prior to joining the team full time. I was attracted to the fast-paced environment, the opportunity to manage a significant part of the business almost immediately and the Pepsi name.
Describe your on-boarding experience.
My transition was as smooth as possible. The key elements were spending time in every department to have a greater knowledge of the entire business rather than focusing on one area.
How would you describe the culture at PBG?
There is an exceptional support structure at the New River Valley Plant. I’m empowered to make decisions for the business and can consult with experienced department and plant management.
What does it take to be successful at your position?
For me, it’s important to like the people I work with and work for. Pepsi has some of the most highly skilled and highly motivated people you can find anywhere. Hard work is contagious at Pepsi.

The Rule of the Road “Act Now, Do it Today, Get Results” is a true statement of the PBG culture. Learning to prioritize responsibilities and duties is a task that one quickly learns when working at PBG.
What does it take to be successful at your position?
The ability to pay close attention to details, the willingness to be flexible when faced with competing objectives and the ability to deal with constant change.

Describe your on-boarding experience.
I had the opportunity to go out in the trade with customer representatives, delivery drivers, territory sales managers and other personnel. Seeing and learning first-hand were invaluable lessons that training manuals could not capture.
How would you describe the culture at PBG?
Working at PBG, one has to be flexible and organized ready to do one thing and change gears to adapt to a customer or other inquiry.
What does it take to be successful at your position?
To be successful in my position I have had to work hand-in-hand with personnel at our local Market Unit and our Business Unit. I am confident that the knowledge I have gained in these activities has prepared me for my next challenge.

Describe your on-boarding experience.
I did not feel uncomfortable or rushed at any time. All the components of my training have been top-notch and I believe they are the keys to my current success.
How would you describe the culture at PBG?
PBG is very fast-paced and the expectations that we must meet every day are daunting. I love the fact that I will never be bored in any day of my job.
What does it take to be successful at your position?
On a daily basis, I am responsible for performing trade audits, scheduling merchandisers, managing our budget and coordinating the service we provide to our accounts. As a merchandising manager, you are responsible for making sure that PBG is reaching its goal of being the preferred DSD supplier for every one of our customers.

I though the atmosphere at PBG was great.

It’s a well-planned program and was really interesting spending a day with a driver, sales representative and other people. The opportunities for learning were numerous. I had a big project and real goals I loved it!

People at my plant are willing to help with my training and everyone is very courteous.
